ASSOCIATION FRANCOPHONE DE THERAPIE CENTREE SUR LA  PERSONNE, (AFTCP)*

The Association runs a professional training programme in  French for PCA skill practitioners (Praticiens de la Relation d'Aide dans l'Approche Centrée sur la Personne) and therapists- Counsellors (Thérapeutes-Counsellors dans l'Approche Centrée sur la Personne) which is divided into two, two year cycles.

Each cycles starts on the even years. Each year consists of 18 days contact time over week-ends (3 of 4 days & 3 of 2 days).

These two cycles are run independently and begin in September of every "even" year.

CONTENT AND METHOD

The intensive programme uses experiential learning and offers theory, practice skills, supervision,  and personal development opportunities, all of which are integrated.

It includes lectures, video sessions, empathy labs, encounter groups, group supervision, individual tutorship. The Council of Students allows exchanges between pairs and feed-back to the Trainers. Written papers and reading accounts are required between  the two sessions.

ADMISSION

No specific requirement for the first cycle beyond good educational background and some relevant experience Higher education is likely to be an asset.

Students can enter the second cycle if they have an AFTCP certificate, or equivalent.

Admission to both cycles takes place after a long interview with one of the Course Trainers, and following a thorough scrutiny of the student's biography by the College of  Trainers.

EVALUATION is a continuous process at three levels : individual, pairs and Trainers.

A CERTIFICATE is awarded at the end of the first cycle after satisfactory presentation of a paper summarizing the theoretical and practical knowledge gained as well as indicating the personal development of the student. Students will also be required  to produce a written presentation of 20 hours experience with clients.

A DIPLOMA is awarded at the end of the second cycle after the satisfactory presentation of a theoretical dissertation altogether with the written presentation of a long therapy case study which must illustrate one client's process.

The VENUE is a welcoming setting of three chalets in a charming village of the French Haute-Savoie, not far from Geneva

-tuition : 10380 FF per year

-full board: 200 FF per day
