Independent Private counsellor.

I have been seeing private clients since 1987. I work with individuals and couples. I am able to offer prospective clients appointments quickly, usually within a few days. I always suggest that we have an initial appointment and make no commitment beyond that point prior to meeting. It is important that clients feel comfortable with me. Equally, I want to feel reasonably sure that what I am able to offer matches up with what the client wants.

Frequency and duration.

Traditionally counsellors see clients once a week for an hour and most of my clients opt for this arrangement. However, some clients prefer a session to be longer, whilst for others an hour is too long and they prefer to negotiated something shorter.

Some clients value seeing their counsellor at a fixed time on a fixed day each week.   However, for people who work shifts or find that their lifestyle makes it difficult to maintain such a pattern, I am happy to make arrangements which are mutually convenient.

My work ranges from a few sessions (sometimes called brief counselling) too a much longer term counselling relationship. I do not have fixed ideas about this and brief for that my clients decide what is most appropriate for them.

Fees.

£50, £10 more for evenings and weekends.

Couples Counselling

I have been counselling couples since it 1982. I do not have fixed rules about seeing one partner and then the other. All of that can be worked out between us.

I do not take sides, judge, or give advice. I prefer to think of myself as partial to both, rather than impatial, which indicates a cold aloofness, which I wish to avoid  . I want that which is best for each individual, even though that may be different for each person. That may sound difficult - and it is. But it is often that difficulty which is at the heart of couple counselling.

I treat each partner as an individual. Therefore, if I see either of you individually I treat any thing I am told as confidential.

In-house Counsellor

I have direct contracts with two internationally know corporations who have large sites in Milton Keynes.  cases The Corporations pay for me to counsel their staff on any emotional problems, both work related and private. The fees are paid directly by the Corporations, but client confidentiality is strictly observed.

Some Corporations prefer to contract directly with me, knowing that their staff will be guaranteed a BACP Senior Registered Counsellor and that my long experience in business means that I understand their exacting requirements.

 Supervision

I have been offering Client/Person-Centred Supervision since 1988, when I was appointed one of the Supervisors for the PCT (Britain) Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy Course. This was the first course to be Accredited by BAC.

In 1994 I completed a Post Diploma Person-Centred Supervision Certificate with PCT (Britain), in Glasgow.

I now offer Supervision to counsellors who are anxious to ensure that their Supervision is firmly routed in the Person/Client-Centred   tradition. This can be particularly important for students who are on training courses which profess more than one model. Students often become confused and appreciate working with a Supervisor who seems sure of his routes and  stuck to them.

Equally, experienced counsellors value working with a supervisor who clear and confident about his client-centred foundations.

Fees.

£50, £10 more for evenings and weekends.
